New Eriez MetAlarm Metal Detector for the Aggregates Industry

Eriez®, a global leader in separation technologies, is proud to announce the launch of its revolutionary MetAlarm metal detector, specifically designed for the aggregates industry. This innovative product represents a significant leap forward in signal processing technology and reinforces Eriez’ commitment to delivering customer-focused solutions. Developed with an emphasis on durability, reliability, and user-friendliness, the MetAlarm was created in response to direct feedback from customers, ensuring it meets the most demanding requirements of the industry.

“The MetAlarm is a transformative innovation for the aggregates market,” says John Klinge, Director of EMEA Operations & Strategy at Eriez. “It embodies our long-standing tradition of pushing the boundaries and setting new benchmarks in magnetic separation, metal detection, and material handling technology.”

Eriez collaborated with Cardiff University to develop the MetAlarm, equipping it with robust capabilities to tackle the most challenging issues in the aggregates sector. By automating the metal detection process, the MetAlarm enhances productivity and profitability while reducing the health and safety risks associated with manual inspections of hazardous materials.

Prototype testing of the MetAlarm has received overwhelmingly positive feedback. Heidelberg Materials, for example, reported a significant decrease in equipment downtime due to blockages at its quarry near Pontypridd, Wales. This reduction in downtime has led to increased production and throughput, resulting in considerable cost and time savings.

“The MetAlarm has far surpassed our expectations, not only in terms of performance and reliability but also in driving improved process efficiencies,” says Mike Wilkes, General Foreman at Heidelberg Materials’ Craig yr Hesg quarry. “Eriez has been an invaluable partner, customizing solutions to meet our specific needs and delivering unparalleled customer service.”
